Not ready to fall

Friday, September 23rd, 2016

It's that time of year again, my least favourite time of year, Autumn is upon us with its colder and shorter days, its dying plants and hibernating animals, its fireworks days and spiced lattes.

And obviously the store now sells mince pies (best before 30 November…). Hope you all have a splendid weekend!

Autumn is here

Friday, September 9th, 2016

We had a barbecue at work this afternoon, it was pretty good but it also felt like the end of a season as the wind and rain start to pick up following a rather warm week, which isn't all that unusual in Scotland.

Hopefully we can still do something fun outside this weekend.

A quiet evening

Saturday, September 3rd, 2016

Little one is out on a sleepover tonight. She gets so excited about these things I'm starting to wonder if she'll fly out of the nest far sooner than we'd expect.

Children, they grow so fast…

The veil of obfuscation

Friday, August 26th, 2016

The world is still going to hell and right now all this side of the world seem to care about is whether some women should be allowed to wear a piece of cloth on their heads.

Freedom, equality and brotherhood are concepts which are being seriously eroded right now, in France and everywhere else, so perhaps instead of bickering on issues that pose no threat to anyone we should figure out how to all get along and let each individual decide how they want to prepare for the life that comes after this one if it matters to them. But really, this life here and now is really all we have so let's not waste it.

Something resembling summer

Friday, August 12th, 2016

Once upon a time it was hit and miss whether it would be July or August which summer month would be hot and sunny and which would be wet and miserable. Nowadays the sunny one tends to be July and August is the wet one. Don't plan barbecues in August folks.

Still we're hoping for some dry weather this weekend to hopefully enjoy another Highland Games on Sunday so cross fingers.
