Snow furrows in Princes Street Gardens East

Saturday, March 31st, 2018

The council maintains the lawns of Princes Street gardens by essentially ploughing the ground every winter so as to sow fresh grass every year. I suppose it's as good a method as any to avoid weeds. However when snow lightly falls on this ploughed land, it highlights the furrows done to reseed the lawn. It's almost like it's trying to mimic the fan of rail roads down below

Tolkien discussing his Elvish languages

He also demonstrates a little bit of writing in Tengwar, which I've always found fascinating and elegant. Unsurprisingly, he also says his languages are to complicated to be used in the real world, which makes sense given the context of who, where and when Quenya and Sindarin were designed to be used.

Outtatime

Friday, March 30th, 2018

There's so much to think about with selling our flat that I haven't even written a single post since my last #floralfriday. If you were worried I was deserting G+, don't be. I'm just really busy.

On the other hand, we went to see Ready Player One last night and I highly recommend it as a super fun movie. It took a lot of liberties from the movie but that was to be expected. I'm hoping to find time to write a review for it that will do it justice.

I'm also running out of flower pictures, I'll have to go replenish my stock soon now that spring is (mostly) here.

Standing out from the crowd

Friday, March 23rd, 2018

I don't recall house hunting being such an emotional rollercoaster last time we had to go through this, at least we haven't yet ran out of options so there is hope yet.

Chris Carter weighs in on the shocking events of the season 11 finale of #thexfiles

I know I have been relatively quiet about the show during the run of this season. Truth be told, I have had some mixed feelings about certain episodes, and that finale certainly is among them.

I did not manage to resume my podcast I started 2 years ago, I just haven't been able to figure out a way to talk about the show in a medium that doesn't put everyone to sleep. But I would like to do a proper review of this season at some point, once we've had time to digest all 10 episodes. I have 8 out of the 10 on Google Play now so I'll be able to rewatch them properly and lay down some thoughts.

Is there any way you would like to read more from me about this season, or even about other seasons? YouTube is kinda done to death nowadays but that's always a possibility if I can keep videos short.

Either way it's not because the show is now over that I will stop posting about it here so stay tuned.

Carter tells THR that Wednesday’s finale was never meant to be the end of the series as he addresses all those cliffhangers.
