Elgin Cathedral Main West Portal

Wednesday, February 1st, 2017

Not my best shot but for my defense this was shot nearly 11 years ago and it was with film subsequently put on disc by whoever processed it. Also it was quite wet that day

Like other cathedrals across Scotland, Elgin's would have been a magnificent building by the time of the 1560 Reformation. Since then it's been steadily falling into disarray until it was picked up, restored (to some small degree) and maintained by Historic Scotland.

Edinburgh's Lothian Chambers building could become home to the French consulate

This is interesting news. The current location of the French consulate and French institute at 11 and 13 Randolph Crescent respectively has always felt a little tucked away for a consular building. Now with the Lothian Chambers becoming available it would be a good opportunity to put it to good use.

And who knows, in a few years it might be the seat of the French Embassy in Scotland. In any case it would be good to have a central location that can provide not just consular services but bring in the Library, an art theatre and generally a space for cultural events.

Teri Hatcher, who played Lois Lane in Lois and Clark is coming to Supergirl

Her role is as of yet, unannounced, and as cool as it be for her to reprise her role as Lois Lane (because no one played Lois better than she did), I don't expect it to be the case.

Supergirl has gone up in quality this season, perhaps in fact due to the shift in focus from being at CatCo to being in the DEO. It's also not afraid to tackle themes you wouldn't have dreamt to see in a superhero show only a few years ago. But most of all, I love how it has all these cameos from actors who had one role or another in related Superman movies or shows. It's almost like one big family gathering. If Christopher Reeve was still alive he might have wanted to contribute in some small way as well.
