As you can tell I’ve been away for a short while, after Satch’s gig last Friday I got home far too late to indulge in some practice and after that we were away until Tuesday. Since then I’ve been so busy I’ve only been able to take the guitar again for a quick unplugged play last night. But tonight was lesson night and as always very helpful and instructive.
The main thing was working on those issues I’ve been having with sweep picking which have been somewhat frustrating me. I could cheat and say, well I’ll just do what Paul Gilbert does and use only string skipping techniques but really the longer you delay mastering a technique, the harder it gets when you finally get to it. So a few helpful tips should hopefully make things better in the future. What I’m gonna have to do on Fridays is instead of just steamrolling through the daily exercise (resuming tom… later today), I’ll do some extra warm ups and sweep picking exercises, then maybe I’ll finally be able to play the whole of A tout le Monde’s solo which I should have mastered months ago.
After I got home I just jammed a little over that nice groovy backing track in G. I tried applying some sweep picking on there but I’m not sure it was the right tempo for that. Oh also I don’t know that I mentioned getting my copy of Guitar Pro 6 so I’ll be looking for good on-line scores of the songs I’m trying to learn and some more
