Eoliennes verticales|Vertical Wind Turbines

Let’s kick off the new blog with a series of links I came across on the Manpollo forum on various new wind turbines being developed, which look really promising.


The first one is a British project called Quiet Revolution and proposes a very elegant wind turbine that spins really fast with very little wind needed. Be sure to check the fact sheet and watch the video. If this is as quiet as they say it would be a far cry from traditional wind turbines which are reputedly rather noisy.

The second one is called Helixwind, a California company dedicated to producing green energy. The design is different from the first one but no less elegant, and let’s face it, who wouldn’t want to produce so much energy you’d get negative energy bills? Again, be sure to watch the video demonstration.

Finally, check out Mariah Power. Their design may not be as elegant as the previous two but I like the wireless transmitter that allows you to monitor the energy it produces. It also claims to be safe for birds which is also a known caveat of traditional wind turbines. See the video below for more information:
