Bloody hell, I knew this whole house hunting thing was getting far too easy
See it was all going too smoothly. We saw the perfect flat, put an offer for it that we could afford, got it accepted, started even *gasp* "planning" things
and then the survey results came back.
To be honest, I don't even know what any of the results mean. It's a whole bunch of construction engineering gobbledigook which makes absolutely no sense apart from the fact that it devalued the property by 20% of what we originally offered. Now we were told, well you should still be able to get a mortgage for the value the surveyor came back with. All we'd have to do is change our offer and hope it would be accepted (as unlikely as it started to become). Now as it turns out, we can't even get a bloody mortgage for a property "of this type".
I'm sorry but I've been there and it didn't look like the place was about to fall down. By comparaison, I saw places that were going for more than that which didn't look in half as good a condition. But then who are we to contest. We're just meek little people trying to go "up the fucking property ladder". Geez, you'd think this was a bloody rock climbing contest or something. All I wanted was a home, is that really too much to ask? Why should I care how much I'll be able to resell a place in the future? Oh yes, because "that's the way it is". Well fuck that!
