I was talking to Hugh, a friend of mine, earlier about ways and means to achieve success in the great web battle for Google ranking and it occurred to me that this site currently doesn't really have much of a purpose it only to accommodate my irregular trails of thoughts that only means something to myself ...
I've had the idea ever since I've put together the list of European Sword Resources but as per how feasible this would be, I'm not too sure. The idea is basically to set up a portal for people to review various sword retailers they've used to buy their swords, whether on-line or not. For example of the 3 swords I own, one was bought on my behalf so I can't comment on the experience but the other two don't even have a website.

Of course, in order to make it useful for everybody, this would need to include Asian and American shops as well. That's fine by me, I'm quite happy for people to review their experience with whichever shop they used. The list of European resources can be a completely separate thing altogether.

The tricky thing is the logistics of it. I could either create an article for all the shops out there and encourage people to review them in the comments, but that would require me to find every single thing out there which may be counter productive. The alternative is to let people write their own reviews as standalone articles. I can moderate what people write and publish as needed and make sure we don't get 2 entries for the same shop.

There's also the issue of making the idea known, I can ask people on the sword forum what they think. I'm just worried this would be perceived as trying to take over what they do. Thing is though, there is not really such a thing as a central place where people can search for a shop and see other buyers' experience about it. In terms of reviews, you can go to MyArmoury, which is a great resource for various suppliers but it reviews the product, not the shop that sold it (well not directly anyway).

I'd be interested to have people's feedback about this so do let me know what you think.
